Description
Of the two types of Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) which have been characterized, HIV-1 is more infective and is prevalent globally. Capsid protein p24 probably forms the conical core of the virus that encapsulates the genomic RNA-nucleocapsid complex, which is critical in HIV-1 viral replication. HIV-1 p24 is a useful biomarker for diagnosing HIV infection.
